Cancer fundraising ideas?
We lost our 4 year old son to leukemia earlier this year. We donated some of his toys to the hospital he was treated, my kids decided this would be a good thing to do and help other kids in the situation and we came to the decision as a family. We now would like to do something to raise money for the hospitals charity foundation, after everything they did for him we think it’s the least we can do. Any ideas how we can raise money? I agree with the answer above.
Ask at schools, the senior students often have to choose a committee to be part of in their final year.
One of which is usually the Charities Committee if you ask them to help you raise money for the hospital. I’m sure even if it isn’t their primary charity that you will find at least some willing to help. Right now is the best time to ask at schools because they may still be finding a charity.
Another way is to ask the school to do a non school uniform day to help raise money.
If you would rather do something which requires yourself more you could organise a sponsored walk.
You could organise a raffle, talent show, cake baking contest… The list of possibilities goes on and on…
Play to your strengths if you are good at something it can almost always be grafted into a fund-raiser.
If you know anyone with musical talents you could ask them to perform to help raise the money. I’d be very surprised if they decline as they get publicity and are performing for a good cause.
You could even do a combination of the above and have one huge event.
Whatever you do make sure it is well advertised and get as much people involved as possible.
Plan well in advance.
Don’t make changes at the last minute (for example if the weather is going to be chucking it down on the day) don’t cancel on the day.
If you must cancel do it at least a 5 days in advance and give appropriate warning.
Because it puts people off if they turn up to an event to do good and it’s turned out not to be happening on the that day.
Make sure you get the appropriate permission for hosting the event for example (police, council, fire certificates….) if you need them.
