Clipping a Birds’ wings.?
I’ve had my little green budgie for about 7 months now. Should I clip her wings? She keeps flying into walls (yeah I actually mean walls), mirrors, and windows. She’s also flying like CRAZY!!!! She won’t play with her toys and spend time with me. All she does is just fly around the whole day. If I clip her wings and then regret it, how do I repair them. Plz answer.
It loves to exercise ! Just like human individuals, some individual birds like exercise more than other individuals. Clipping its wings would be a really hateful thing to do. Its like putting handcuffs on a great tennis player, like telling an olympic champion they’re not allowed to do their sport, or a huge and long-lasting humiliation to a human. Don’t do it ! Birds were meant to fly. They need exercise and excitement too. Let it be.
PS- I’ve been thinking: Something you might consider checking — maybe, just maybe the bird has some problem that is making it feel uncomfortable or agitated, and won’t sit still, and flies around too much? Years ago when my cat had a major flea infestation it kept running around like crazy. Birds can have health issues too. Its possible that maybe it has some kind of bird-ticks that makes it itchy and agitated, or belly ache? When I have a belly ache sometimes I walk about, pacing back and forth. Maybe some kind of infection or parasite or fungus or something on the outside or on the inside making it uncomfortable to sit still. Maybe you should consider visiting an avian vet / bird vet for a check-up. Find out if there is a health issue and cure it, but do not clip its wings to hide its symptom of unrest.
