toys with lead from china
Did the United States lead poison themselves from 1920 to 1970????

i aksed if george bush is destroying the world envirnoment. someone said china made some toys with lead in them. as i recall the united states added lead to gas at the fuel pump to improve octane from the twenties to the seventies when it was outlawed. do you remember when they gave you UN-leaded gasoline. it never had lead it in in the first place. they put it in. why would a government allow gas companies to poison us with lead? why are they now putting uranium on themselves and the enemy? you dont imagine uranium poisoning is worse than lead poisoning?

The lead in gasoline was to increase octane and fuel efficency. It also kept valve seats from wearing out very quickly, as the lead would build up, and give it a soft cushion. (I have a leaded car from the 70′s, converted to run unleaded). The particulate was in the air and breathed in. Only a few people in the 20′s thought there might be a problem with the mixture.

The depleted uranium, is not being used in our country (well other than testing). Any problems associated with that, create birth defects in other countries populations, which most Americans don’t seem to care about.

Also, military personnel exposed to uranium dust might have problems, but they are often unfortunately treated as disposable grunts. No upper officers would likely have any substantial effects from the explosions.

Any lawsuits they might bring up in the future, would probably pale in comparison to the amount of money raked in by the military industrial complex – that and they would probably die before collecting. Their children conceived after their tour, might also face a risk of du problems. For an example of how well we treat our wounded, watch the CNN show, “waging war on the va” that was shown after the Democratic debates.

The difference between the two is, most people, even scientists, didn’t know that lead was that harmful until the 60′s. About 10-12 years later, it was finally federally outlawed. Scientists DO know the effects of depleted uranium, but you won’t hear about much of it, unless you go looking for it. The photos from Iraqi’s and Afghani’s with birth defects are atrocious, there is even a baby that is missing a head (but supposedly stayed alive for a day). The media will not usually show this, or wounded soldiers (even civilians in Iraq), or anything about the war in too negative a light. – good short documentary on this subject – http://rattube.com/blog1/2007/11/24/us-media-thou-shall-not-show-war-1-3/

If you want to see, you must search yourself, I will not provide a link. Go to google, type in ” depleted uranium birth defects “, then click on images. Be warned, the images might change you forever.

In the end, it’s not Bush, but corporations that introduce products that might have risk. They weigh those risks against possible number of dollars, not possible harm, unless the harm is great enough for them to be sued over.
